We took our first field trip to the Dallas Symphony today. I was so excited, I hadn't heard a live orchestra since I played in one myself so many years ago. The girls were a little leary, they had asked me if it was going to be as boring as listening to the high school band play at school last year LOL! To say the least, they were awestruck the moment we walked in to the building. The Meyerson is so incredibly beautiful. The foyer is so full of light! It was amazing! I was tempted to put on my sunglasses. The inside of the actualy symphony hall was also breathtaking, the detail in the word work, the immense height of the cielings and the fact that the organ was about 50 feet up the wall under the biggest organ pipes I have ever seen was...well...no words can explain what I felt. I didn't realize how very much I missed listening to this type of music. It is part of me, even though I haven't played the cello since I was in 12 grade, which was about 10 years ago...HaHa...just kidding. I caught myself getting teary eyed just listening to them play. God is so amazing! He created people like Bach, and Greig and so many others to create so many beautiful pieces of music, all so different, yet they all use just about all the same instruments and all the same notes that have been around for ages. It just blows my mind! :) It will definitely be a day to remember in the Burks' family. All four of us got to go so it made it extra special. Enjoy the pictures.
